On December 15, 2016, a group of senior metropolitan municipal officials visited Riyadh Metro project headquarters to get a closer idea about development regulations for the area surrounding Riyadh Metro stations and lines, which have been recently approved in the meeting of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh.
During the visit, the visitors watched a video presentation shedding light on the project, which will comprehensively change the lifestyle in the city at all levels.
The visitors were briefed on the measures and regulations protecting the infrastructure and facilities of metro network including the bridges, tunnels, stations, pedestrian bridges, power stations, service lines, boarding and maintenance centers, and the other urban activities that may affect operation or safety in the present or the future.
The regulations included protection of a 120 meter wide area surrounding Riyadh Metro stations and lines (60 meters at each side), and submission of all applications for obtaining building permits and licenses related to activities within this 120-meter area to the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh for review and approval. This applies to the 3-floor buildings and higher, as well as the facilities that have underground basements.
