On February 15, 2017 HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Chairman of High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, chaired the 24th meeting of the Supervisory Committee of Al-Thumamah Farm Utilization in the presence of HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
In a statement to the press, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar said the opening of the youth camps came as a result of the attention given by the Kingdom to its youth as well as the relevant directions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
He also noted the remarkable development that the park had undergone since his last visit thanks to the sincere efforts of the staff of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, led by HE Engr. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, President of Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), as well as all members of the Supervisory Committee of Al-Thumamah Farm Utilization.
Progress achieved in the implementation of the comprehensive execution plan of Al-Thumamah Park
According to HE Engr. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, member of the High Commission for Development of Arriyadh and President of Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), the meeting was briefed on the progress achieved in the components of the comprehensive execution plan of Al-Thumamah Park, including:
Inauguration of 130 youth camps
Later, HRH, chairman of the High Commission, inaugurated 130 youth camps built by the High Commission over a special camping area adjacent to the Park’s entrance. The youth camps are equipped with various facilities such as parking lots, signage, lighting, kitchens, bathrooms, landscaping and afforestation. The Supervisory Committee of Al-Thumamah Farm Utilization awarded the contract of youth camps rental to Al-Thumamah Village for Operations LLC. Co.
Inauguration of a 53-km road network
HRH, chairman of the High Commission, inaugurated a 53-km road network to connect the current and future facilities of the park. All roads are fenced to prevent vehicles from reaching the environmentally sensitive areas.
Laying foundation stone for the Service Center
HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar, laid the foundation stone for the service center at the north side of the park’s main entrance, which will host shops, restaurants, auto services station, restrooms, plus two civil defense and Red Crescent centers. The Supervisory Committee of Al-Thumamah Farm Utilization awarded the contract of service center rental and use to Aldrees Petroleum & Transport Services Company.
The committee also approved offering the daily family camps, ecological lodges, and youth activities for private investment. The 243 daily family camps are located in the southwestern section of the park, and their designs incorporate all the relevant services, facilities and roads as well. Regarding the ecological lodges and parks, they are distributed in three locations: The ecological park down Al-Armah Mountains in the southeastern and northeastern parts of Al-Thumamah Open Park, while the third location is next to King Abdulaziz Arabian Horses Center.
