Instructed by HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh (HCDR), the High Commission organized a meeting with members of the Business Youth Committee of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce.
During the meeting, the committee members were briefed on the HCDR’s achievements, plans and programs in the fields of urban, economic, social and cultural development, in addition to environmental management and protection, transportation, housing, and public utilities and services. They also watched a video presentation on the Metropolitan Development Strategy for the Arriyadh Region (MEDSTAR), which guides and orchestrates all future activities of urban development in all sectors of the city through 100 projects and programs and dozens of execution policies that conform to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The guests then watched a presentation shedding light on King Abdul Aziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses), which represents a core contribution to the city’s urban and economic future. The project aims to establish a scalable and integrated metropolitan public transport system that features a 176-km long metro network with 6 metro lines and 85 metro stations, in addition to 24-line bus network with a total length of 1230 kilometers and 7600 bus stops.
The guests also watched a presentation on the comprehensive plan to transform Riyadh into a “Smart City”. The plan, which has 12 public and private sector stakeholders, seeks to expand the use of the technological solutions in all aspects of life in the city through over 100 initiatives and services in the fields of economy, transportation, environment, community, livelihood, and governance.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged ideas and proposals on the optimal ways to support entrepreneurship sector in the city of Riyadh, and reviewed the key incentives and facilitations offered by the HCDR to the young businessmen.
