As part of its campaign to raise public awareness about King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses), the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh has started decorating surroundings of the 85 Riyadh Metro stations with the drawings that participated in the Children’s Drawings Contest of Riyadh Metro.
This initiative aims to utilize the drawings in various ways throughout the project phases and after its completion, and to support the talented children who participated in the contest.
According to the initiative, out of the numerous drawings that participated in the contest (organized in March 2015), 1800 drawings have been selected to decorate the metro stations’ walls.
The contest witnessed good participation, and the winning kids have been honored in a ceremony held under the patronage of HRH Chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh.
The Project’s Community Outreach Team contacted families of the winning children to inform them about the locations to host their children’s drawings, usually in the vicinity of the nearest metro station to the family residence.
All drawings carry the names of the their owners, and they are installed successively at the sides of the metro stations in a way that highlights aspirations of the children on the future of their city and its ambitious project.
