On February 29, 2016, the Danish Minister for Business and Growth, Troels Lund, and the delegation accompanying him visited headquarters of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, at the Diplomatic Quarter, and was received by HE Engr. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, member of the High Commission for Development of Arriyadh and President of Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), and a group of ADA officials.
During the visit, the minister attended a presentation about the High Commission’s plans and development programs, particularly the Metropolitan Development Strategy for the Arriyadh Region (MEDSTAR), which guides and orchestrates all future activities of urban development in all sectors of the city. He also explored the key metropolitan development plans, projects and programs being carried out by the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, particularly King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses), and environmental improvement programs.
The Minister was also briefed on the project of “Traffic Signals Management and Control System in Riyadh”, which includes deployment of 350 traffic signals controllers at key intersections to ensure smooth traffic along the metropolitan road network.
The Danish delegation also outlined the Danish expertise in the sectors of energy, water, waste processing, and cleaning by shedding light on the relevant Danish companies and their achievements in Copenhagen.
At the end of the visit, the minister expressed his pleasure with ADA’s plans, projects and programs that have significantly enhanced the city and served its people.
