On the occasion of the World Civil Defense Day under the slogan «Civil Defense and Culture of Prevention for a Safer Society», the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh hosted on March 08, 2016 a symposium titled: Safe Behaviors During Emergencies. The symposium was organized by the General Directorate of Civil Defense to familiarize ADA employees with the accident prevention procedures, and emergency protocols.
During the symposium, the lecturer highlighted the Civil Defense role in raising social awareness regarding the daily safety issues and procedures, and the necessity of following any instructions issued by the competent authorities during the rainy seasons and floods.
The Civil Defense lecturer also revealed that 70% of urban fire accidents in the Kingdom are caused by electrical issues, stressing the role of modern fire detectors in combating fires, particularly those capable of analyzing air molecules for early detection. Additionally, it was noted that incidents of child drownings in swimming pools rank as the second most dangerous type of accidents in the Kingdom, while gas leaks come in the third place.
It is noteworthy that the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh has recently conducted specialized studies, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, to apply the highest safety standards and security measures at work locations of King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses).
