On April 20, 2016, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, chaired ADA second meeting of 1437H.
In a statement to the press, HRH said, “During the meeting, four private healthcare investment projects were approved that will add over 1000 beds in total, and improve the quality of health services provided to the residents of the city.”
HRH also said, “Inspired by Wadi Hanifah Environmental Rehabilitation Program, the meeting addressed number of plans to transform the main valleys in Riyadh city into leisure destinations and recreational attractions for the local residents,” adding, “The meeting also discussed the rainwater and floodwater drainage projects, and took number of decisions to boost the efforts and overcome any obstacles in this regard.”
According to HE Engr. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, member of the High Commission for Development of Arriyadh and President of Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), the meeting was briefed on the outcomes of the recent demographic study of Riyadh City, which revealed that the metropolitan population reached 6.5 million, with a growth rate of 4% over the period from 1431H to 1437H.
During the meeting, the High Commission stressed the enforcement of its decision to evacuate all the violating activities and institutions, whether commercial or administrative, from the residential neighborhoods.
The High Commission also approved the extension of Prince Turki Bin Abdulaziz I Road towards West from its junction with Makkah Road in the west and South Ring Road across both Aisha Bint Abi Bakr and Abi Hanifah roads.
The meeting also reviewed the progress achieved in works of the metropolitan floodwater drainage network, and the current state of the critical locations, stressing the need for continuous permanent/temporary solutions for such locations across the city, in addition to the strict control, and preventive maintenance.
During the meeting, four private healthcare investment projects were approved. The projects comprise over 1000 beds and 376 clinics, with a total cost of more than SAR 2.5 billion. A commercial complex comprising a shopping center, hotels and hotel apartments in the northern suburb of Riyadh city was also approved during the meeting.
