A delegation from the Contractors’ Committee at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport to get an idea about the project and its components, workflow, and expected returns to the city and its residents.
During the visit, the delegation met with Riyadh Metro project manager, Engr. Walid Al-Ekrish, who shed light on the project, which will comprehensively change the lifestyle in the city of Riyadh by providing safe, sustainable and modern transportation services to its residents and visitors.
During the meeting, the delegation explored cooperation opportunities between the project and the Contractors’ Committee, the opportunities available for the Saudi contractors within the project, and localization of the metropolitan construction sector.
Later, the delegation visited the site of San’ah TBM, which continues boring the northern part of the Fifth Line (King Abdulaziz Road Axis). After listening to a detailed explanation about the site’s security and safety procedures, the delegation wore the safety gear and moved along the TBM tunnel via special trailers that allowed them to explore the tunnel’s components, and public utilities extensions.
At the end of the tunnel, the delegation watched the modern technologies and multiple functions of the giant TBM (San’ah), which causes no vibration or noise to the surface while working. San’ah has completed an approximately five kilometers, with only 250 meters remaining to complete the Green Line’s tunnel.
