On June 8, 2016, HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Chairman of High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh and Chairman of Supervisory Committee for King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project (Metro & Busses), announced the completion of Riyadh Metro Green Line’s tunnel during his visit to the project, in the presence of HE Minister of transport, Sulaiman Abdullah Al-Hamdan.
In a statement to the press, HRH said, “We are proud of what has been achieved in Riyadh Metro Project. With 36% of work is now done, we expect the project to be complete within two years and few months as scheduled”.
During the visit, HRH Prince Faisal and the attendees watched the tunnel boring machine (TBM) San’ah making its way through the wall of its last station on the green line, marking completion of the 4880-meter northern section of the Green Line’s tunnel from the conjunction of Red and Green Lines (King Abdullah Road Axis) adjacent to the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, to the metro station next to King Salman Air Base.

This announcement marked completion of the 12.16-km tunnel of the Green Line, which links downtown to northern Riyadh.

Later, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar and Minister of Transport checked the entry of the southern part of the Green Line’s tunnel in a special vehicle.
