The High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh has announced the launch of a new traffic diversion along Riyadh Metro’s Blue Line (Olaya – Al-Batha Axis) at the junction of Olaya Street and Al-Oroubah Road on 28 July, 2016, as part of the preparations for construction works of a metro stations on the site.
Located next to the Kingdom Centre, the diversion includes westbound and eastbound closure of Al-Oroubah Road at its junction with Olaya street, but local traffic between Olaya Street and Eng. Musa’id Al-Anqari Street will be allowed.
The diversion provides alternative routes for eastbound traffic along Oroubah Road. Vehicles should First take south direction on Olaya Road, then eastward via Khalid bin Yazid Street (in front of Al Hammadi Hospital), and finally drive northward along Eng. Musa’id Al-Anqari Street to return to Oroubah Road.
Regarding the eastbound traffic along Oroubah Road, the vehicles should take the north direction via Eng. Musa’id Al-Anqari Street, then westward through Prince Sultan bin Salman Street, and finally turn southward via Olaya Street up to Oroubah Road again.
As planned, the diversion was supported by removal of the traffic lights at the intersection of Olaya Street with Oroubah Road, as well as reduction of the duration of the traffic signal at the junction of King Fahd Road and Oroubah Road to reduce the waiting time and ease congestion.
Earlier, the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh organized field visits to inform residents and business owners in the vicinity about the diversion to ensure continuity of commercial activities in the area.
Additionally, coinciding with the launch of the diversion, the High Commission has released a new update for Delilat Arriyadh app, which provides users with the best alternative routes to bypass the diversions of King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses).
