On January 29, 2024, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City ‎‎(RCRC) received the World Water Council’s team tasked with ‎evaluating the Kingdom’s bid to host the 11th edition of the World ‎Water Forum (WWF2027), led by the Ministry of Environment, ‎Water and Agriculture.‎

The Committee was briefed on Riyadh’s key ongoing megaprojects ‎demonstrating the sustainability of the capital’s water sector. ‎Additionally, a presentation on the Riyadh Expo 2030 was ‎delivered, underlining its role in supporting the capital’s endeavor to ‎host the world’s largest water event, which is anticipated to draw in ‎more than 40,000 visitors.‎

Noteworthy, the World Water Council has held its inaugural ‎workshop to assess the Kingdom’s bid to host WWF2027 in ‎Riyadh. During the session, the council examined the merits of ‎Riyadh’s candidacy, and the added value and qualitative ‎transformation that the forum could bring forth if the city is selected ‎as the host.‎

The teams’ schedule included visits to key attractions in Riyadh, ‎offering a glimpse into the cultural and artistic expressions of the ‎Kingdom’s diverse heritage. Highlights of the itinerary featured a ‎visit to the National Museum at King Abdulaziz Historical Center, ‎allowing participants to delve into some of the unique facets of the ‎Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.‎

The World Water Forum is preceded by several consultative ‎conferences held at various levels in 2025 and 2026 to prepare for ‎this important event. In May 2024, the country that will host the 11th ‎version of the forum will be announced at the World Water Forum ‎that will be held in Bali, Indonesia.‎

Leading up to the World Water Forum, a series of consultative ‎conferences will take place at various levels in 2025 and 2026 to ‎prepare for this event. The culmination of this preparatory phase ‎will occur in May 2024 when the host country for the 11th session of ‎the WWF is set to be unveiled. This announcement will unfold at ‎the World Water Forum hosted in Bali, Indonesia.
