On February 23, 2016, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, chaired the 12th meeting of high committee for environment protection in Riyadh.
In a statement to the press, HRH said, the meeting approved the project entitled, “Riyadh without waste Containers”, based on extensive environmental studies to make Riyadh environmentally friendly. He added, “other metropolitan environmental studies are underway.”
HRH referred that the High Committee for Environment Protection in Riyadh has developed a comprehensive waste management strategy in collaboration with leading international specialized companies, and established an advanced system to monitor air quality in the city comprising 32 monitoring stations.

HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar stressed that city residents’ cooperation is very important in preserving environment, particularly that their contribution is essential to the success of all metropolitan environmental plans and projects.
According to HE Engr. Ibrahim Al-Sultan, member of the High Commission for Development of Arriyadh and President of Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA), the meeting adopted the Execution Plan for Environment Protection in Riyadh City 1436-1440H (2015-2019), which comprises six main axes: air quality, waste management, water and soil resources, natural resources management and biodiversity, sustainable environmental management and development, and climate change. The components of these axes are being implemented through 50 enviroemtnal programs and projects.
