Localization of public transport expertise and know-how
The training programs within the King Abdul Aziz Project for Public Transport in Riyadh reflect the HCDR’s keenness to maximize the national revenues from this giant project in many vital sectors, foremost of which is the localization of public transport expertise and know-how. To achieve this, the programs are tailored to attract the Saudi youth cadres in key aspects of the Project and provide them with on-the-job training, in addition to engaging them in project activities along with their counterparts working for the international consortiums of the project.
1500 Saudi cadres employed within the Project
Launched by the HCDR in cooperation with the Saudi universities and relevant authorities, the Summer Training Program has led to a steady increase in the number of competent Saudi cadres employed within the project, with an approximate of 1500 Saudi youth currently working in various engineering, technical, and administrative roles across the project.
230 participants within the summer training program
Since its inception three years ago, the summer training program has attracted 230 students – from 12 Saudi universities – who have acquired knowledge and skills in various aspects of the project including: planning, design, civil works, train manufacturing, electrical and mechanical systems, management, operation and maintenance.
Visits to plants in 9 countries around the world
The program offers the trainees field visits to plants manufacturing components of the projects in eight countries (Italy, Denmark, Britain, Austria, Germany, South Korea, France, Poland) for in-plant training.
