HE CEO of Arriyadh Development Authority, Engr. Tariq Bin Abdulaziz Al-Faris, referred that Riyadh was one of eight cities selected by the World Council of Cities Data (WCCD) to be the “local 2030 data hubs”, which culminates the city’s achievements in this field, shortly after winning the WCCD ISO 37120 golden certification.
In a related context, the meeting agreed to launch the “Riyadh Geoinformatics Portal“, a platform that provides accurate and up-to-date information and studies on the Riyadh province and city, including:
Approval of the Comprehensive Plan for Wadi Al-Sulay
The meeting also approved the Comprehensive Plan for Wadi Al-Sulay, which aims to enhance the valley’s environmental, urban and recreational potentials and protect its course and tributaries as a natural area subject to special environmental regulations.
The plan will rehabilitate the valley’s course to allow its 2400-km2 natural drainage basin to accommodate the permanent and seasonal waters.
The plan also focuses on protecting the natural environment of the valley and its tributaries by preserving the existing local trees, improving overall afforestation, and designating strategic locations as public parks.
17 areas open for public-private investments
The new plan provides attractive investment opportunities to the private sector at 17 key zones along the 110-kilometer-long valley.
Amendments to the regulations of the furnished apartments and other uses on the 30/36-meter-wide streets
The meeting also discussed the ADA’s decision on the “Improved Building Regulation”, whereby an additional floor was allowed with 50 percent use for plots on commercial 30/36-meter-wide streets. However, the regulation requires all such units to shift from commercial to residential uses in all metropolitan residential neighborhoods, excluding the old ones.
Moreover, the meeting stressed the units must be used only for residential purposes, not including the use of furnished apartments and other uses.
Groundwater level reduction project in Al-Arid and Al-Narjis neighborhoods
On another issue, the meeting approved the awarding of the contract of a groundwater level reduction project in Al-Arid and Al-Nargis neighborhoods to the Al-Khorayef Water & Power Technologies Company.
