On February 05, 2019, the RDA-run Riyadh Urban Observatory (RUO), launched a 3-day training workshop titled, “RUO Experience in Indicators Measurement & Evaluation and Integration with Local, National and Global Objectives”, with the participation of local and international experts.
In his inaugural statement, HE CEO of Riyadh Development Authority, Engr. Tariq bin Abdulaziz Al-Faris, said that the workshop is held with the participation of members of the RUO Executive Committee, the as well as experts from the UN-Habitat, the ESCWA, and the Global Urban Observatory, backed by a host of local and international specialists.
By highlighting the RDA experience, the workshop aims to enhance the participation of the local urban observatories in achieving the development goals in several areas including, institutional capacity building, indicators evaluation, multi-sector involvement, and integration between local and global objectives, Engr. Al-Faris added.
Sustainable Development Goals 2030
The first day of the training workshop kicked off with a keynote statement by the director of the UN‐Habitat, followed by another statement by the head of the ESCWA.
The first session was titled, “UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and Global Monitoring of Human Settlements Indicators”; and the second was titled, “Monitoring Indicators at the Local and National Levels.”
”Indicators Measurement Methodology” was the theme of the second day of the workshop.
The last day of the event addresses two topics: “Indicators Framework Building and Integration with Local and National Goals” and “Urban Indicators Reporting”.
