On November 12, 2019, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City launched a two-day forum titled “Riyadh…A Sustainable City” to introduce the Riyadh Four Grand Projects.
Over 60 international experts participate in the forum to exchange views and expertise on how these major quality projects can best impact the various sectors across the city of Riyadh.
The forum will also discuss a range of metropolitan sustainable urban development topics, including the climate change, environmental conservation, resource management, cultural interaction, and positive change initiatives.
The Riyadh Four Grand Projects
The forum also sheds light on the Riyadh Four Grand Projects launched by the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on March 19, 2019, based on an initiative presented by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. These projects include:
King Salman Park
King Salman Park will be one of the biggest around the world, as it covers more than 13 square kilometers. It will combine a wide variety of activities and host many environmental, cultural, recreational and sports projects and facilities that will significantly contribute to improving the lifestyle of all Riyadh residents.
Sports Boulevard
The Sports Boulevard extends for 135 Kilometer across the city of Riyadh, connecting Wadi Hanifah valley in the West with Al Sulay Valley in the East. The Sports Boulevard has safe, green pathways for pedestrians along the project’s course, with special routes for professional and amateur cyclists and horse-riding activities, in addition to several locations for sports activities.
Green Riyadh
The Green Riyadh Project includes planting 7.5 million trees across the capital in gardens and parks, mosques, schools, as well as academic, medical and public facilities and most of roads, streets, car parking spaces to bring down the temperatures, improve air quality and reduce power consumption across the city.
Riyadh Art
The Riyadh Art project will transform the city of Riyadh into an open gallery, where originality and modernity blend perfectly, and open new horizons for the local and international artistic movement. It will also foster the positive social values, cultural interaction, knowledge transfer, and creative cooperation.
