On May 4, 2016, HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, Chairman of High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh and Chairman of Supervisory Committee for King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project (Metro & Busses) visited the project, in the presence of HE Dr Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, Minister of Finance and member of the project’s High Supervisory Committee, Dr. Mufrej bin Saad Al-Haqbani, Minister of Labor, and the project’s Preparatory Committee and Follow-up Committee members.
Following the visit, HRH told the mass media that the project works go as planned, with 33% of work now complete.
HRH added, “The national cadres working in the project prove that the Kingdom has powerful and successful youth”, so, “today, we have signed an agreement to localize the jobs generated by the Project throughout its phases including construction or operation. All the necessary measures and arrangements to provide the Saudis with employment opportunities within the Project will commence immediately.”
HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar also thanked residents of the city for enduring the hardships caused by the project works, referring that Riyadh Region will host public transport supporting projects in the future, including a plant for manufacturing buses to be established in an industrial city.
HRH concluded, “ On this occasion, I record my thanks to the colleagues at the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh for their honest and hard work to get the project done as we see today.”
Upon arrival to the launch location of Jazlah Tunnel Borign Machine (TBM) on the Orange Line (Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Road Axis), HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar and the visitors, rode special vehicles that toured the Orange Line’s tunnel from the metro station south of Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium, to Qasr Al-Hukm Palace Metro Station downtown. The tunnel features 8 stations, and Jazlah has completed 2650 meters representing 51% of its total length.
Then, HRH chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh and the visitors moved by buses to the site of King Abdul Aziz Historical Center Metro Station on the Green Line, where they listened to a presentation on the project’s unified contact center, which serves as a platform for the residents of the city to share their inquiries, proposals, comments, and complaints regarding the Project and its components by calling 19933.
HRH also patronized a celebration organized by ADA to mark the completion of boring works of the southern section of the Green Line by Dhafrah TBM within the scheduled 1-year time frame.
Dhafrah TBM has completed the southern section of Riyadh Metro Green Line’s 7280-meter-long tunnel (from the station next to the Airbase Roundabout till the end of the line at King Abdulaziz Historical Centre Metro Station). The 30-meter-deep tunnel features 6 metro stations.
