On 12/17/2015, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul Aziz, chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh and head of the Supervisory Committee of Riyadh Public Transport Project (RPTP), inspected the project’s progress during a visit to Riyadh Metro Green Line tunnel (King Abdulaziz Road Axis) and its TBM Zafrah.
In a statement to the press, following the visit, HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar said that the difficult phases of the project have been overcome and achievements can now be seen on the surface with approximately 26% of works complete.
“Currently, the project’s workforce is over 31,000 workers, including 7,000 engineers and management staff, and it will increase as needed throughout the project phases,” he confirmed, adding that this proves the project advances as planned, and is in line with the metropolitan development plan. HRH Prince Faisal hailed the Saudi cadres working in the project for their great contributions.
HRH Prince Faisal inspected all aspects of the project, including Zafrah TBM, which continues boring the southern section of the tunnel of the 12.9-km Metro Green Line (King Abdulaziz Road Axis).
The project works advances as planned at more than 170 locations around the city, with a total of 13 kilometers of underground/surface tunnels now complete on the Green Line (King Abdulaziz Road Axis), the Blue Line (Al-Olaia-Al-Batha Axis), the Yellow Line (King Khaled International Airport Road Axis), and the Orange Line (Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Road Axis).
